A Day in the Life of a London Chef Recruiter | HTE Recruitment

Meet Sam, one of our dedicated chef recruiters based in our London branch. Sam’s day is a mix of hustle, precision, and passion for connecting top culinary talent with some of the best kitchens in the capital. Here’s a glimpse into his typical day:

7:30 AM: Morning Energy Boost
The day starts with a brisk walk to the office, stopping by a favorite bakery for a much-needed coffee and croissant. The aroma of fresh pastries sets the tone for a productive day ahead.

8:00 AM: Clearing the Decks
Sam arrives at the office, ready to tackle emails and review CVs sent overnight. Any standout candidates are quickly uploaded to the system, ensuring no opportunities are missed.

8:40 AM: Daily Chef Briefing
The team gathers for the daily chef recruiter briefing. This is the time to review urgent roles and align on priorities, ensuring client needs are met promptly.

9:00 AM: Candidate Check-ins
Sam makes check-in calls to candidates scheduled for interviews, confirming their attendance and troubleshooting any issues, such as delays on the Underground. He also keeps clients informed about any last-minute updates.

9:30 AM: Registration Calls
The focus shifts to welcoming new candidates, conducting registration calls, and learning more about their skills and aspirations.

10:30 AM: Client Follow-ups
Next, Sam reaches out to clients, ensuring CVs are being reviewed and gathering feedback to keep the process moving.

11:00 AM: Back to Registrations
Sam returns to onboarding candidates, providing them with advice to prepare for upcoming opportunities.

11:45 AM: CV Perfection
Formatting CVs is an art, and Sam ensures every candidate’s profile shines. Tailored information is added based on client requirements before CVs are submitted.

12:30 PM: Lunch Break
Sam recharges with a protein-packed meal prep box or grabs something delicious from a local spot. This is his favorite time to relax and reset.

1:15 PM: Market Research
Afternoons start with research—exploring London’s vibrant restaurant scene to identify potential candidates and gain insights into the ever-changing culinary landscape.

2:30 PM: Post-Lunch Connections
Once the lunch rush has settled, Sam reconnects with clients and candidates. These conversations often uncover new opportunities or provide updates on ongoing roles.

4:00 PM: Interviews and Offers
Sam coordinates interviews for future days and finalizes offers for candidates who impressed during lunchtime trials. It’s a rewarding moment to see all the pieces come together.

5:00 PM: Planning Ahead
The final task of the day is planning for tomorrow, ensuring everything is in place for another productive day.

5:30 PM: Fitness Time
As a semi-pro footballer, Sam hits the gym or heads to the football pitch for evening training, balancing his professional drive with athletic dedication.

9:00 PM: Dinner and Relaxation
Sam winds down with dinner and some well-earned downtime, recharging for the next day.

Friday Finish Line
